My determination to study engineering comes from my desire to seek a challenge. In life, there seems to be no bigger challenge than to learn and find out how things work. In our modern world, engineering plays a big role in the foundations of technology and knowledge and this is what I am interested in.
As my year 12 progressed, my interest in science and Maths, particularly Physics developed. Studying Physics at Advanced level allows me to think about how things move and react to forces and how these properties can be used in solving both practical and theoretical situations. Maths interests me as it develops my problem solving skills, allowing me to apply familiar concepts to unfamiliar situations. My enthusiasm towards these subjects encouraged me to take up AS Further Maths. In doing so, I hope to expand my knowledge to achieve a level of understanding satisfactory to a potential degree level student. In addition to Physics and Maths, I am also studying Biology which provides me with the opportunity to develop my practical skills as I am required to work within groups. My communication skills have been put to the test during these lessons and I have proved many times that I am a team player.
After much research, I decided to attend taster courses at City University and Queen Mary University of London to experience what engineering involves. These informative taster courses offered me a unique chance to understand and to observe different areas of engineering which subsequently led me to the decision to pursue mechanical engineering. Its ability to allow me to see how things work fascinates me and furthermore, as mechanical engineering is a diverse field, it will allow me to learn and use many skills which can be transferred onto many employment opportunities.
Although I have enjoyed the challenge that my school-based work has given me, I have always sought to extend my knowledge. Recently, I built a computer. I discovered how each component is connected and how one energy source is converted into another. This has allowed me to apply the theory I learn within the curriculum to real situations. Furthermore, I was able to see how the components fit together by taking apart unwanted pieces from my old computer.
I have always been willing to give my time to take part in activities such as volunteering. I once raised money for the Marie Curie foundation. During this period, I improved my communication skills and confidence as I met and talked to many members of the community. I found that this experience was rewarding and fulfilling. I am a trusted member of my year group and when asked to be an ambassador for my sixth form, I accepted. This experience allowed me to demonstrate my organisation and communicational skills as I was required to confidently guide and talk to many potential students to the college. In addition, throughout my academic career, I have played an active role in a variety of different extracurricular activities. I am an adept musician and passed my grade 4 examinations in flute. Although I have decided to discontinue the examinations, every year during events such as Chinese New Year, I play the flute for my local Chinese community.
I believe that success as an engineer in a modern society requires a combination of management, communication and business skills. Therefore, with my previous experiences, focused attitude and will for success, I have the ability and motivation to meet the demands of studying at degree level. The prospect of studying engineering excites me, and I feel confident that I will make contributions to university life.

國家公派出國留學人員獎學金標準
同時根據(jù)每年的不同情況，在人數(shù)上做相應地變動。(其中“特別優(yōu)秀獎”不超過10人)，在自費留學人員較集中的32個國家實施。根據(jù)標準，申請人應為即將或已經(jīng)開始攻讀博士學位的人員，申請時申請人應該已經(jīng)是國外高?；蚩蒲袡C構的正式注冊的自費留學生，并即將迎接碩士畢業(yè)的畢業(yè)生，以及攻讀博士學位第一年的學生。獎勵金額為6000美元/人，其中特別優(yōu)秀獎為10000美元/人國家公費留學獎學金申請詳解國家公費留學獎學金申請詳解。

碩士研究生申請時年齡不超過30歲，具有學士學位或優(yōu)秀本科畢業(yè)生，身體健康，表現(xiàn)良好。
訪問學者(含博士后研究)申請時年齡不超過50歲，應為高等學校、企事業(yè)單位、各級行政單位、科研單位的正式工作人員。 高級研究學者申請時年齡不超過55歲，除應符合訪問學者的申請條件外，還需具備以下條件之一： ①國家重點實驗室、教育部重點實驗室、國家工程(技術)研究中心骨干; ②“長江學者”特聘教授或教育部當年確定支持的創(chuàng)新團隊中的骨干或“新世紀優(yōu)秀人才計劃”入選者及其他人才計劃入選者; ③教育部批準的國家重點學科學術帶頭人; ④中央國家機關、地方行政管理部門、國有大中型企業(yè)高級行政管理人員。 其中教學科研人員應為教授、博士生導師;中央國家機關、地方行政管理部門管理人員應具有副司局級(包括副司局級)以上行政職務;國有大中型企業(yè)管理人員應具有相當于副司局級(包括副司局級)以上行政職務。
國家公派留學人員獎學金資助內(nèi)容
資助內(nèi)容主要包括一次國際往返旅費及獎學金生活費，其中獎學金生活費是指國家公派留學人員在國外學習期間的基本生活費用，
包括：伙食費、住宿費、交通費、話費、書籍資料費、醫(yī)療保險費、交際費、一次性安置費、零用費等。具體資助標準按教育部、財政部有關規(guī)定執(zhí)行。
此外，對少數(shù)赴國外一流高校，一流專業(yè)攻讀博士學位人員，如其學科專業(yè)確為國家急需、且難以獲得外方學費資助，特別是人文及應用社會科學專業(yè)，可提供學費資助。
當然與自費留學相比公派出國留學的條件會很多，且名額有限，所以一般有條件的學生都會選擇自費留學?？催^上述條件后，覺得滿足要求的學生可以嘗試申請公派留學，可以極大的減少出國留學的經(jīng)濟壓力。
